Membership of IRQNThe IRQN is a network of organizations. IRQN MembersThe network members are:
The RANZCR currently serves as the network’s secretariat. [ Top ] The International Society of RadiologyDr. George Klempfner, President of the International Society of Radiology invited the IRQN to give a presentation to members of the ISR on the network and its activities during the International Congress in June 2004. This was opportunity to inform colleagues about the network’s objectives and to explore possible collaboration opportunities. Through an established international body, such as the ISR, quality messages may be spread throughout the international radiology community, thus generating a wider awareness of, interest in and support for quality and safety matters. Collaboration possibilities include IRQN sponsored quality presentations at future ICRs or an IRQN link with ISR with respect to quality matters. In 2006, following an invitation from Dr. Jan Labuscagne, Convenor of the 24th International Congress of Radiology, the network hosted an IRQN Quality Session as part of the 'African Symposium' during the 2006 ICR. Four papers focusing in the quality agenda of the organisations were presented by IRQN members: ACR by Dr. Jim Borgstede, ISRRT by Mr. Robert George, EAR by Professor Iain McCall and IRQN by Dr. Lawrence Lau. Judged by the number of delegates present and the questions asked there is an increasing awareness and interest on quality and safety issues in radiology. To facilitate communication and sharing of information, it was agreed that a representative of the IRQN will attend future ISR Executive Committee meetings with similar reciprocal arrangement for the IRQN. [ Top ] The WHO LinkIn the 2003 meeting, the issue of a formal link with the World Health Organisation was raised and discussed. The members unanimously agreed that it would be beneficial for both organisations to develop such a link to facilitate the advancement of quality issues internationally. Dr. Harald Ostensen from the WHO attended the IRQN meeting and expressed his support. The network has since written formally to the WHO and our proposal is currently being processed through the WHO secretariat. [ Top ] [Home] | ||
